Managing Facebook For Your Business In Reasonable Time

3 Simple Steps

Many business owners and professionals don’t leverage the power of social media because they don’t have time. Like many other business functions, the time you put into building a powerful online presence is a long-term investment. You may not see immediate results and results you do see may not be in the form of direct revenue.

So, why do it? Those of us business owners who see the value of this activity recognize it as a key feature in marketing and communication now and hire Voy Media to grow their business over time. So how do you squeeze one more thing into your already over-scheduled workday? Here are some tips to help you manage your time and effort on Facebook. Future episodes will touch on managing Linkedin and other platforms.

Depending on the amount of activity going on your Facebook business page, it may take little or no time at all to acknowledge and respond to the interactions from others on your page. If someone likes, comments on, or shares one of your posts, it is polite to thank them. Don’t take long here, just a quick thanks or like their comment will do.

Content –

Post something of your own. As a guide, think about posting something on your Facebook between 3-5 times per week, with no more than 3 posts per session. Think of content as the information you take from the following sources: 1. Articles you find on Google, Twitter, or other sources, written by other industry leaders 2. Sharing a post from the page of one of your connections, by either going to their page or scrolling down your home page and sharing from there 3. Writing something for yourself – your “fans” want to know what is going on with your business. If you attended a great conference, offering a new special, or hired a new employee, these are great things to put on your FB page. Posting shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes. We do a combination of all three for our clients.

Connections –

take another couple of minutes to find business pages to connect by “liking” their page. They will get a notification that your business liked theirs and they are more likely to connect back with you (if they are on top of their Facebook for business). Once your businesses are connected they see all of your posts on their timeline and you see theirs. That makes interacting with their posts easy and keeps the connection that you have already established. This is easy to do by scrolling down your “home” page. Here is where you will find all of the posts from the business pages you have liked.

Remember, business page “likes” don’t change the number of likes your page has. It is kind of unfair for those of us with B to B businesses that have a lot of business connections on Facebook because only individuals liking a page will change that number.

If you dedicate about 10 minutes a day, you can make a big difference to your social media and online presence. We do this for our clients 3 times per week unless we are managing a more aggressive campaign. Even though the dedication of time is not that significant, for many busy professionals focussing on social media is just not how they want to spend their resources. This is when outsourcing to a professional social media management company, such as Social Media Maxima is the best decision.
